A Carnelian Woods condo that had been frozen in time: peach laminate counters, wall-to-wall carpet, oak wainscot, a brass-framed shower.
The bones were good. A double-height great room, an open loft, a slider onto the pines. But none of the finishes let the light or the volume do any work, so we kept the plan and rebuilt every surface.
Luxury vinyl plank flooring runs through the whole unit now: the look and feel of white oak, but water and scratch resistant enough for skis and snow. The fireplace is wrapped in blackened steel with an oak mantel. The kitchen is walnut and white behind a hex-tile backsplash, and the loft is a real second bedroom under beams stained dark. Then it was furnished and staged for guests, end to end.
